Chromatypes

Writer: Eric BailliesEric Baillies

When I learned about chromatypes they felt so dreamy and warm I just had to give them a try.

Very little is known about the chromatype except what I found in Wilson's Cyclopedic Photography.

It was invented by R. Hunt in 1843 and uses Copper Sulfate and Potassium Dichromate.

Even though these images are not very stable, now that they are made and documented they still have an incredible power to reflect and inspire. They will degrade over time and change in color and in density, even being stored in the dark. I look forward to see how they change over time! Enjoy!
